Marko Chavez is a postdoctoral researcher in the Atkinson Lab at Princeton University. He earned his B.S. in Physics at Lehigh University and his Ph.D. in Physics at the University of Southern California. During his Ph.D., he characterized the electrical properties of diverse native and engineered electroactive microbial systems for their future use as living electronic materials in new, sustainable biotechnologies. At Princeton, he is excited to further explore the fundamental mechanisms of electron transport in electroactive microbes and to apply these systems to solve real world problems in pollutant biosensing and bioremediation. Outside of the lab, he enjoys cooking, hiking, playing video games, and going to concerts.
